MICHELIN and its partners Kawasaki and BMW Motorrad were in top form at the fourth round of the CEV
series (Circuit de Catalunya) last weekend.
The meeting saw Carmelo MORALES (JHK T-SHIRT Laglisse) claim pole-position, the fastest race lap and a third straight win, while Xavier FORES (N°12
BMW) was next across the line to secure the French tyre firm’s second consecutive one-two finish. The result extends MICHELIN’s lead at the top of the Stock Extreme standings.
The weekend’s clash
near
Barcelona produced
a
healthy
battle
between tyre
brands.
As track temperatures soared to 38°C, however, the tyres’ ab ility to resist the full 16 laps became a vital parameter and the remarkable flag-to-flag consistency, performance, enhanced grip and quick warm-up delivered by MICHELIN’s products helped make a real difference. Carmelo MORALES posted the fastest race lap on
the 15th of the race’s 16 laps (1m46.716s), allowing him to pass into the lead and collect his third victory in as many races.
The weather
was just as hot

and qualifying,
and MICHELIN’s technicians were consequently able to provide the riders with precise advice for the race. Thanks to the brand’s latest
innovations, Carmelo MORALES
(N°31 Kawasaki) was ab le to benefit
from tyres which matched the conditions perfectly to claim pole position on Saturday (1m45.376s), in addition to Sunday’s win.
He went on to beat Motorrad Competicion’s Xavier FORES (N°12 BMW) by 0.755s.
With the first half of the championship now completed, MICHELIN and Kawasaki top the provisional standings with Carmelo MORALES (95 points) and Kyle SMITH (59).
The fifth round of the 2012 CEV will take teams to Albacete on July 21-22.
